The Jakarta Police will reroute traffic around the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium area, Senayan, to provide security for President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who said he would attend the 2010 Asean Football Federation Cup semifinal match between Indonesia and the Philippines tonight.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Baharudin Jafar said private cars were banned from entering the stadium complex. The area inside the stadium would be allocated for Presidential Security Force's official cars and VVIP cars only.
Baharuddin said supporters should park in the east parking lot in Senayan, Tribunnews.com reported.
If the parking lot cannot hold enough cars, the police will allow parking on Jl. Gerbang Pemuda, he added.
Several streets around the stadium will be closed to the public when the President arrives.
Baharuddin said Jl Gerbang Pemuda would be closed and traffic heading east on Jl. Gatot Subroto would not be allowed to turn onto Jl. Sudirman.
The stadium's gates 7 and 8, Anggrek Park and the access road to the swimming pool in the Gelora sports complex will be closed too, meaning all cars will have to access the stadium via Jl. Asia Afrika.
The police said they would arrest anyone carrying fire crackers or other dangerous items.
